U.S. Senate Youth ScholarshipThe United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) has begun its statewide selection process in North Carolina. Information can be found at http://senateyouthnc.webs.com/. The United States Senate Youth Program is a scholarship program that provides an educational opportunity for juniors and seniors interested in pursuing careers in public service. Student delegates winning the $5,000 scholarship and attending the week-long event in Washington, D.C. March will hear major policy addresses by Senators, cabinet members and directors from other federal agencies.

The General Hugh Shelton Leadership Center offers a four-year leadership scholarship/stipend total package in the amount of $40,000 tuition plus $6,000 leadership enrichment stipend to support their college experience, if they choose to attend NC State University. The scholarship is awarded to an entering freshman, valued at $10,000 per year, renewable upon satisfactory academic progress and leadership involvement at NC State.
The Shelton National Leadership Scholarship process is open to rising/current seniors who are in the process of applying for college the fall semester of their senior year in high school. The application process is currently open and available for students to submit their application through October 15, 2017.

By December 23, 2017 the Goodnight Scholars Program will issue approximately 700 invitations to apply to prospective first-year NC State students who have applied for fall 2018 admission. This invitation gives each student access to the Goodnight Scholars Program online application. The invitation is sent to the email address listed on the student’s general NC State application. Students will soon be able to apply for the Cheatham-White Scholarship, a newly established merit-based scholarship program for incoming freshmen attending NC Agricultural and Technical State University or NC Central University beginning in the fall of 2018. Cheatham-White Scholars will represent students with a broad range of interests, proficient in areas of both the arts and sciences, demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to service. The state budget recently approved by the General Assembly provides funding for up to 20 Cheatham-White scholarships at each university.
Each recipient is awarded a fully funded four-year scholarship that covers the cost of full tuition, student fees, housing, meals, textbooks, a laptop, supplies, travel, and personal expenses. Each scholarship also provides four summers of fully funded enrichment and networking opportunities that may include international travel and study.
All North Carolina high schools are eligible to nominate students to be considered as a candidate(s) for the Cheatham-White Scholarship. Nomination packets are currently being mailed out to high schools now.

The Coastal Carolina Post, Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) intends to award 2 four year college scholarships valued at $2,000 each. Topics of the program include ethics and values, decision-making and leadership theory. Recipients must be willing to participate fully in the Williams Leadership Award Program including monthly meetings, spring service project coordinated by scholarship recipients and other events scheduled. This scholarship was created in memory of Riley Fletcher. Riley attended Swansboro High School and was active in the arts, especially interested in singing, drawing, and poetry. The Riley Fletcher Arts Scholarship was formed to create an opportunity to raise awareness and prevent suicide.
A $1,200 scholarship will be presented to an Onslow County graduating high school senior who exemplifies outstanding qualities in the arts, leadership, and character. The scholarship award may be used to further the students’ college education in the field of the arts.
Qualifications are as follows:

attending college.
7. Student must be active in the community, church and/or school activities.

10. The most recent official high school and or college transcripts must accompany each application, complete with 4 references and SAT scores.
